Before form, there is a decision.
A point of origin. A quiet pause where the project gathers its first intention.
Architecture begins before form.
At the first point of intention. At zeroth index.
Architecture and design projects by Zeroth Index
A collection of spaces.
Each beginning with a question.
A placeholder collection, awaiting the spaces you create.
Before a line,
an intention.
Zeroth index is a point of departure. A pause to ask what a space can be, before deciding what it should look like.
We begin with the relationship between people and place. Light, material and landscape become the vocabulary through which an intention takes form.

Architect/FounderI created Zeroth Index with a focus on architecture as a process of inquiry, where form arises from a careful consideration of context, program, and human experience.
I approach each project as a unique collection of circumstances rather than working within a fixed architectural language. Each project becomes an opportunity to question, explore, and respond specifically to its place, purpose, and people.
EVERY PROJECT BEGINS FROM ZERO.

A SECOND POINT OF BEGINNING.
Looking closer.
Thinking further.
An open notebook on the things that shape space.
001
Light as a material
Observation ↗
A wall is never quite the same wall. Morning light reveals its grain; afternoon shadow redraws its edges. We begin by watching.
002
The spaces in between
Reflection ↗
A threshold, a courtyard, the shade beneath a roof. Architecture also lives in the pauses between rooms.
003
Building with the ground
Material study ↗
Earth, stone and the textures of a place offer a starting vocabulary. A study in belonging, before expression.
What is your
first intention?
A place to live. A space to gather.
A question worth exploring.
